Bobbin lace is not made by a machine. The pattern is pricked onto a pillow and dozens of pairs of bobbins cross the threads exactly along it. An hour of work is sometimes just two centimetres. That is why every piece is one of a kind — and why it lasts for generations.

We lift off the lace, clean and starch it so it holds its shape.
I make lace one piece at a time, not by the metre for stock. I draw and prick the pattern myself and choose the thread by where the lace will be — one for a veil, another for a collar. Rather one original done well than a pile of the same. For every piece I keep the pattern, so it can be repaired or repeated later.
