Atelier

A hat isn't bought. It fits, or it doesn't.

Off-the-shelf hats come in three sizes and fit almost no one. We block each piece on a wooden form to your head measurement — and tune the shape to your face too. Natural felt and straw, hand-sewn bands and linings. A hat that lasts years and can be reshaped, not thrown away.

You don't wear a good hat. It wears you — and you just lift your chin.

I learned the craft from milliners in Vienna and Paris and brought home the forms and the feel for shape. I work small; every piece passes through only my hands.

Measure & shape

We take your head measurement and discuss style, material and use. We try the shape against your face.

Blocking

We hand-block the hat on a wooden form, steam and dry it. Natural felt or straw.

Finishing

Band, lining and trim to your taste. Then a fitting so it sits exactly.
