Handmade knifemaking · Damascus steel

From fire and time
the edge is born.

Custom forged knives from Damascus steel. Two steels, dozens of layers, hardening and etching — only then it reveals what has been in the steel all along.

Processs · from forge to edge

Five steps,
no shortcut.

  • HeatSteel into the forge, around 1200 °C it becomes malleable — color reveals temperature better than a thermometer.
  • WeldThe hammer joins two steels into one: hard steel carries the edge, tough steel the spine.
  • LayersThe strip is folded and welded again — from a few layers come dozens to hundreds, they draw the pattern.
  • QuenchingRed-hot blade into oil and immediately into the tempering oven, otherwise internal stress cracks it.
  • EtchingAcid colors each steel differently — and the Damascus pattern finally emerges.

The number of layers alone does not make a better knife. The cut is determined by steel, geometry, and heat treatment.

Knifemaker

At the forge,
not at a catalog.

I make knives by hand, from selecting the steels through forging and hardening to the handle and blade. No mass production, no imported semi-finished products — every knife passes through my forge and my whetstone.
