Detail of a wooden roof — beams and rafters in sunlight
Carpentry from the Highlands · since 2009

Honest wood,
solid joints.

Roof trusses, timber structures, pergolas and gazebos. We cut, hew and join so that it lasts longer than us — without unnecessary frills, but properly.

We are a small family workshop from Nové Město na Moravě. We work with wood from roof trusses to gazebos and for every order we are there from measurement to the last nail.

We don't promise impossible deadlines and we don't count things you won't need. We prefer to come, take a look, and tell you straight what makes sense. We carve joints traditionally — tenon, mortise, lap joint — and where appropriate, we combine them with modern hardware. We source wood from sawmills we know and dry it before we work with it.

Material & craftsmanship

Wood and joints,
on which it stands.

Exposed roof truss · timbered header, mortise and tenon joint

Spruce

Roof truss base. Light, strong, easy to work with.

Larch

For exteriors. Naturally resistant, ages beautifully to silver.

Dub

Where the joint must be seen and hold forever.

We don't hide the joint behind metal. A hewn joint is the most beautiful part of the entire structure — and also what holds it together when the wood moves over time.

Tenon and mortise

Classic carpentry. The tenon fits into the mortise and is secured with a peg — without screws, without glue. It holds for centuries.

Joint 02

Lap joint

Two beams are mutually notched and overlapped. A firm connection in the plane — the basis of the truss and wall plate.

Joint 03

Dovetail joint

Extended tenon in the shape of a dovetail. It pulls the joint together and holds it tight — for cleats and headers.
