== Description ==
Folia Memberships & Subscriptions turns ordinary WooCommerce products into recurring memberships and subscriptions.

= Important: recurring charging =
This plugin manages the full subscription **lifecycle** (records, roles, schedules) and the **renewal-order flow**. Renewal orders are created as „pending payment“ so they can be paid manually via the customer’s pay link.
**Automatic charging of a saved card is performed by your payment gateway, not by this plugin.** A native gateway integration (Stripe off-session charging) is planned for v2. The `folia_wcsub_renewal_order_created` action hook is provided so a gateway integration can attempt an automatic charge.
== Installation ==
1. Upload the `woo-subscriptions` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the ZIP via Plugins > Add New > Upload.
2. Ensure WooCommerce is installed and active.
3. Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu. This creates the database table, the Member role, and the daily renewal cron event.
4. Edit a product, open the General tab, tick „Subscription product“, and choose an interval / optional trial.
== Frequently Asked Questions ==
= Does it charge customers automatically? =
No. v1.0 generates renewal orders that the customer pays manually (or that a future gateway integration can charge). Automatic off-session charging depends on the payment gateway.
= What happens when a customer cancels? =
The subscription status is set to „cancelled“, the next payment is cleared, and the Member role is removed if the customer has no other active subscriptions.
= Does it support variable products? =
v1.0 targets simple products. Variable/variation support is on the roadmap.
== Testing checklist (v1.0) ==
1. Activation: confirm the `{prefix}_folia_wcsub_subscriptions` table is created, the „Member“ role exists, and the `folia_wcsub_process_renewals` cron event is scheduled (use WP Crontrol).
2. Product setup: mark a simple product as a subscription (weekly/monthly/yearly), set a trial, save, reload — confirm values persist.
3. Subscription lifecycle: place an order as a registered customer and complete payment; confirm a subscription row is created with the correct interval, amount, trial_end and next_payment.
